Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Short version: very little, and we never sell it.

Who we are

BestieBrief (bestiebrief.com) is a website for readers 13 and up. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean BestieBrief. You can reach us at [email protected].

What we collect and why

When you visit the site

Like every website, our servers and Cloudflare, the network company that delivers and protects our site, receive technical information when you load a page: your IP address, browser and device type, and the page you asked for. We use it to show you the page, keep the site secure and block attacks. We keep server logs only as long as we need them for that.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people read and how they find us. It uses cookies and collects things like the pages you visit, roughly where you are (country or city), and your device and browser. Google Analytics doesn’t store IP addresses. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.

Ask Big Sis

When you send a question, we receive the text, the topic you picked and your age if you chose to share it. We don’t store your IP address with your question. To stop spam, we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for one hour to count how many questions were sent from it, and then it’s deleted. Please leave out names, your school, your city and anything else that could identify you or someone else. If we answer your question, we may edit it and publish it on the site, signed “Anonymous” and your age if you gave it.

Quizzes, games, calculators and printables

These run in your browser. We don’t save your answers or results. If you share a This or That link with a friend, your answers are part of the link itself, so anyone you send it to can see them.

Emails you send us

If you email us, we get your email address and your message. We use them only to reply, and we don’t add you to any mailing list.

Cookies

We use analytics cookies (Google Analytics) and Cloudflare may set a security cookie that helps tell people from bots. We don’t use advertising cookies right now. If we add ads, we’ll update this policy first.

Some of our links go to stores and other websites, and some are affiliate links. When you click one, that site may set its own cookies and collect information under its own privacy policy.

Readers under 13

BestieBrief is not meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you’re a parent and think your child under 13 sent us personal information, email us and we’ll delete it.

We don’t sell your information

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for targeted advertising. We share information only with the services that run the site (like our hosting, Cloudflare and Google Analytics) or when the law requires it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what information we have about you, ask us to correct it or ask us to delete it. Some U.S. states, like California, give their residents these rights by law. We honor them for everyone. Email [email protected] and we’ll answer within 30 days. Because we don’t collect names or accounts, we may not be able to find information that isn’t tied to you.

Keeping it safe

We collect as little as we can, use secure connections (HTTPS) across the whole site and limit who can access our systems. No website is perfectly secure, so please don’t send us anything you wouldn’t want to get out.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change is big, we’ll also say so on the site.
